How WCRC ranked America's Most Powerful Brands 2026

01 – What we measure

The WCRC Power Score

A powerful brand is one that people know, trust, choose and recommend, and that has the strength to keep doing so. The WCRC Power Score measures this across five pillars and 50 parameters. Every brand is scored out of 100.

02 – Who qualifies

Three rules

  1. Founded in the United States and owned and controlled by a company headquartered in the US today.
  2. A consumer or business brand with national and international standing.
  3. Publishes financials. The brand or its owner publishes revenue for its latest financial year.
03 – How scores are set

Global scores, kept

45 brands also appear in WCRC's World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, and they keep their published global Power Score. The other 55 are scored on the same five pillars, are capped below the global #100 score of 73.64, and are provisional until validated by the WCRC Business Intelligence Unit.

04 – Not eligible

Notable exclusions

  • Tiffany & Co.: Founded in New York, but owned by LVMH (France) since 2021. It ranks #37 in the World's Most Powerful 100.
  • Budweiser, Jeep, Ben & Jerry's, Converse-era icons now owned abroad: American-born brands owned by groups headquartered outside the US (AB InBev, Stellantis, Unilever) are not eligible.
  • Mars brands (M&M's, Snickers), Chick-fil-A, Subway, New Balance, Patagonia, OpenAI: Privately held companies that do not publish financial results, so they fail the published-financials rule.
