The Omega story

Louis Brandt founded a watch workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. His sons moved the business to Biel/Bienne and in 1894 launched a calibre called Omega, which gave the company its name. Omega became known for accuracy and won many chronometry trials.

What makes Omega powerful

Omega's power rests on precision with proof. It has been Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, and the Speedmaster was worn on the Moon by Apollo astronauts in 1969. The Seamaster, linked with James Bond films since 1995, and the Constellation complete a strong line-up.

Omega today

Omega is part of the Swatch Group, based in Biel/Bienne, and led by Raynald Aeschlimann. It makes its movements in-house, and many of its watches are certified Master Chronometers, which tests them for accuracy and resistance to magnetism.

What comes next for Omega

Omega's task is to keep its sports heritage and precision credentials relevant to younger buyers. The MoonSwatch collaboration with Swatch has introduced the Speedmaster to a new generation.
