Recognition A–Z / Brands

Brand ranking versus brand valuation

A ranking orders brands under a defined method. A valuation estimates monetary value under stated assumptions. A list position is not itself a valuation.

What to review

Read what the ranking measures and whether a monetary model is involved. Identify the valuation date and scope if a value is published.

A practical example

A perception-based ranking may describe respondents' views. It does not establish the amount a buyer would pay for the brand.

Keep the claim in scope

Keep rank, valuation and company market capitalisation distinct when explaining an outcome.

Research and editorial context

Brand measures answer different customer and business questions. Keep the brand, market and period visible when interpreting a result. These notes provide analytical distinctions; they do not announce a new brand ranking, monetary valuation or verified customer score.

Examples illustrate a decision and do not describe a named organisation's conduct. This is a reference note, not a new research finding or an award outcome.
