T-Mobile
T-Mobile US is the second-largest wireless carrier in the United States, based in Bellevue, Washington, and majority owned by Deutsche Telekom. Founded in 1994 as VoiceStream Wireless, it reported 2025 revenue of US$88.3bn, up 8.5%, net income of US$11.0bn and operating income of US$18.2bn, and served 140 million subscribers by September 2025. It was the first operator to launch nationwide 5G standalone service, in August 2020. WCRC's research found its greatest strengths in a highly distinctive magenta identity, the clear 'Un-carrier' challenger positioning and heavy marketing investment, along with revenue growth that outpaced its two main US rivals in 2025.

Clear, long-running 'Un-carrier' challenger positioning backed by heavy advertising.
Strong competitive position: 2025 revenue grew 8.5% to US$88.3bn, faster than its main US rivals.
What holds it back: Data security and compliance are the clear weakness: nine breaches since 2018 and a contested US$92m FCC fine over location data.
