The Dior story
Christian Dior founded his couture house in Paris in 1946 with the backing of textile industrialist Marcel Boussac. His first collection in February 1947, with nipped waists and full skirts, was dubbed the "New Look" and changed post-war fashion. Dior died in 1957, and a young Yves Saint Laurent succeeded him.
