The Gucci story

Guccio Gucci, who had worked at the Savoy Hotel in London, opened a leather goods shop in Florence in 1921. Inspired by English aristocratic style, he made luggage and accessories. The house introduced the Bamboo bag in 1947, the Horsebit loafer in 1953 and the green-red-green Web stripe, which became its codes.

What makes Gucci powerful

Gucci holds some of the highest recall in luxury fashion. The double-G monogram, the Horsebit and the Web stripe are recognised around the world. Creative directors from Tom Ford to Alessandro Michele have each redefined the house for their time.

Gucci today

Gucci is the largest brand of Kering, the Paris-based luxury group controlled by the Pinault family. Its products are made in Italy, many in the Florence area. Gucci's recent years have been a period of change, with new creative and executive leadership.

What comes next for Gucci

Gucci's road ahead is about restoring growth with a new creative direction while protecting the heritage codes that make it one of the most recognised names in fashion.
