The Kinder story

Michele Ferrero launched Kinder Chocolate in 1968, a bar with more milk in its filling aimed at children. Kinder Surprise, the chocolate egg with a toy inside, followed in 1974, and Kinder Bueno in 1990.

What makes Kinder powerful

Kinder's power comes from memories. The egg and its toy are part of childhood in many countries, and the brand has grown into a family of products sold worldwide. Each new product builds on the trust parents place in it.

Kinder today

Kinder belongs to the Ferrero Group, which is controlled by the Ferrero family. In 2022 a salmonella outbreak linked to its factory in Arlon, Belgium, led to a large recall and closure of the plant, which later reopened under strict controls.

What comes next for Kinder

Kinder's challenge is to keep growing while health concerns about sugar shape rules on marketing to children.
