The Moët & Chandon story

Claude Moët founded his Champagne house in Épernay in 1743. His grandson Jean-Rémy Moët expanded it and welcomed Napoleon Bonaparte as a client. The Chandon name was added when Jean-Rémy's son-in-law joined the business. Moët & Chandon acquired the Dom Pérignon name and later launched it as a prestige cuvée.

What makes Moët & Chandon powerful

Moët & Chandon is the most recognised Champagne in the world, linked with celebration, film and fashion. Moët Impérial, created in 1869, is its signature. The house's partnership with Formula 1 podiums, past and present, and with the film industry has kept it in view.

Moët & Chandon today

Moët & Chandon is part of Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of LVMH. It owns vineyards in Champagne and maintains extensive cellars in Épernay. The house has committed to sustainable viticulture across its vineyards.

What comes next for Moët & Chandon

The road ahead for Moët & Chandon is to manage softer demand for Champagne in some markets while keeping its premium position.
