The Revolut story

Revolut was founded in London in 2015 by Nik Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko. It started as a prepaid card and app that let travellers spend abroad without high exchange fees, and quickly grew into a broad money app.

What makes Revolut powerful

Revolut's power comes from speed. It adds new products at a pace few banks can match, from currency exchange and stock trading to savings, crypto and business accounts, all inside one app. Its growth has come largely from customers recommending it to friends.

Revolut today

Revolut holds a full banking licence in the European Union through Lithuania and received a UK banking licence with restrictions in 2024 while it completes its launch as a British bank. It has become one of Europe's most valuable private technology companies.

What comes next for Revolut

The next step for Revolut is to become a primary bank for its customers, not only a second card, and to win licences in more markets, including the United States and Asia.
