Recognition A–Z / Leadership

Emerging leadership evidence

An emerging leader's contribution may involve a narrower mandate than a chief executive's. Assessment should recognise the actual scale and nature of the responsibility.

What to review

Identify the problem owned, decisions made and changes observed. Include relevant constraints and contributions from colleagues.

A practical example

A team manager who improves a handover process can show a concrete contribution without claiming responsibility for the whole company's growth.

Keep the claim in scope

Do not inflate scope to make early-career achievement sound senior. Specific work is more informative than a grand title.

Research and editorial context

Leadership evidence concerns the responsibilities a person actually held and decisions within their authority. The notes here are WCRC management interpretation, not a new ranking or an assessment of a named executive. Use the relevant programme method for a recognition decision.

Examples illustrate a decision and do not describe a named organisation's conduct. This is a reference note, not a new research finding or an award outcome.
