Leadership
Leadership recognition and responsibility
Leadership recognition should identify the responsibilities and period being evaluated. A job title provides context, but it does not establish how a leader contributed to an outcome.

Leadership evidence concerns the responsibilities a person actually held and decisions within their authority. The notes here are WCRC management interpretation, not a new ranking or an assessment of a named executive. Use the relevant programme method for a recognition decision.
Leadership

Leadership
A succession mandate explains what a board expects an incoming chief executive to address and which decisions the executive can make.
Leadership
A board oversees the organisation while management is responsible for operating decisions within its mandate. Useful oversight makes responsibilities clearer.
Leadership
Accountability connects a responsibility with authority, evidence and a review process. Assigning an ambitious goal without those conditions can leave ownership unclear.
Leadership
A decision record captures the question considered, evidence available and reasoning at the time. It makes later review more informative than judging solely by the eventual outcome.
Leadership
Uncertain demand creates a timing problem: resources may be needed before a project is ready to start. Leaders must decide which commitments to make now.
Leadership
Leaders influence culture through the decisions they authorise and the conduct they tolerate. A stated value becomes easier to assess when it is connected to daily work.
Leadership
An emerging leader's contribution may involve a narrower mandate than a chief executive's. Assessment should recognise the actual scale and nature of the responsibility.
Leadership
Communication during change should explain what is decided, what remains unresolved and when people will hear more. Certainty should match the evidence.
Leadership
Leadership development is useful when learning changes relevant work. Attendance and positive course feedback answer different questions from on-the-job application.
Leadership
Ethical leadership includes how difficult issues reach someone able to act. A written principle needs a usable escalation route and a credible response.
Leadership
Attribution asks how a leader's actions relate to an observed outcome. Organisational results usually involve several decisions and external conditions.
