Recognition A–Z / Awards and recognition

Historical awards and current claims

A historical award records an earlier outcome. It remains part of an organisation's history but does not automatically describe its current performance or status.

What to review

Display the edition prominently and preserve the original category. If the organisation has changed its name or structure, explain which entity received the recognition.

A practical example

A 2019 result can be cited as a 2019 achievement. Removing the year from a badge could make a reader believe a recent assessment took place.

Keep the claim in scope

Archive the record with its context. Historical visibility should not create a misleading impression of current qualification.

Research and editorial context

An award claim needs the programme name, assessed entity, category and edition. Read the recognition process with the result. WCRC separates research qualification from optional commercial participation; communications and attendance cannot create or alter a research outcome.

Examples illustrate a decision and do not describe a named organisation's conduct. This is a reference note, not a new research finding or an award outcome.
