Recognition A–Z / Awards and recognition

Recognition and commercial independence

A recognition decision and a commercial service have different purposes. WCRC's published independence position separates evaluation outcomes from payment and promotional participation.

What to review

Read the programme's qualification rules alongside commercial terms. Identify who makes the assessment and whether optional services can affect the outcome.

A practical example

A qualified organisation may choose whether to purchase event participation or communication services. That choice should not change the research finding or its published position.

Keep the claim in scope

Describe commercial deliverables separately. Do not suggest that an award or rank can be purchased.

Research and editorial context

An award claim needs the programme name, assessed entity, category and edition. Read the recognition process with the result. WCRC separates research qualification from optional commercial participation; communications and attendance cannot create or alter a research outcome.

Examples illustrate a decision and do not describe a named organisation's conduct. This is a reference note, not a new research finding or an award outcome.
