What makes Gillette powerful

Gillette's power comes from more than 120 years of shaving technology and a global reach few consumer brands can match. Procter & Gamble says the brand serves over 800 million consumers worldwide. That scale lets Gillette lead with new products and charge for them. In the July to September 2026 quarter, P&G's Grooming segment, home to Gillette, grew organic sales by about 5%, driven by innovation-based pricing in North America and in the region covering India, the Middle East and Africa.

Sport keeps the brand in front of fans. Gillette has partnered with leagues and teams in football, soccer, basketball, baseball, motorsports and esports. In April 2026 it signed a multi-year deal to become the Official Shave partner of the National Hockey League in Canada, starting with the 2026-27 season. Those ties help keep a century-old name current with each new generation of shavers.

Why Gillette ranks #54

Gillette sits at #54 with a WCRC Power Score of 72.64, just behind Ralph Lauren and Levi's and just ahead of Qualcomm and Oracle. Its positioning and recall are very strong, and P&G's backing adds financial and governance strength. But it competes in a mature category where growth comes from price rather than volume, which holds it back against the two fashion brands above. Its trusted name keeps it narrowly ahead of the two technology brands below.

The Achilles' heel

Gillette's Achilles' heel is that growth now relies on higher prices, not more shavers. In the July to September 2026 quarter, P&G's Grooming segment grew on price and product mix, with pricing adding 3.5 percentage points, while volume fell 0.4%. Subscription razor brands and changing grooming habits compete for the same customers. If shoppers stop accepting price increases, growth could stall.

The 2026 story

Gillette's 2026 has combined sports marketing with steady growth. In April it announced a multi-year partnership with the NHL in Canada, naming it the league's Official Shave partner from the 2026-27 season. Jennifer Seiler, senior vice president of Gillette Canada, called the NHL "one of the world's most iconic sports leagues." On Oct. 22 P&G reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 results in which Grooming net sales rose 4%. Chief executive Shailesh Jejurikar credited "sharpened execution of our integrated strategy." P&G is also partway through a two-year restructuring plan, announced in June 2025, with expected pretax charges of $1 billion to $1.6 billion.
