Questions and answers
What is MegaBrands 501?
MegaBrands 501 is WCRC Intelligence's research benchmark of India's most powerful market-facing brands: one MegaBrand in each of 501 consumer and business categories, selected for the 2026–27 Founding Edition from about 3,000 brands assessed. Each MegaBrand is published with the five competitors it was measured against.
How are MegaBrands selected?
By research alone. In every category, the leading brand and its five strongest competitors were measured in the same fieldwork on the same 50 parameters across five pillars. The brand with the strongest overall brand power became the category's MegaBrand. No brand applied, nominated itself or paid.
How many categories, sectors and industries does it cover?
501 categories — 351 consumer (B2C) and 150 business (B2B) — grouped into 55 industries and 13 sectors of the Indian economy.
Is MegaBrands a brand valuation ranking?
No. MegaBrands measures perceived brand power — the strength a brand holds in the minds of Indian buyers — not a financial value. That is why listed, unlisted, cooperative, public sector and multinational brands compete on equal terms.
Can a brand pay or apply to be included?
No. The 501 cohort is locked for the edition. There is no application, nomination or fee that places a brand in it, and nothing commercial changes a brand's selection, score or rank.
What are Industry MegaBrands and India's 100 Most Powerful Brands?
They are drawn only from the 501. One Industry MegaBrand is recognised in each of the 55 industries, and India's 100 Most Powerful Brands 2026–27 are ranked on a single composite Power Score.
How often are scores updated?
The full 50-parameter study runs once a year. Twenty fast-moving parameters are refreshed every quarter through the Consumer Pulse and the Market Pulse, with the first Pulse scores from 1 November 2026.
When are the final results announced?
At the MegaBrands National Conclave on 18 March 2027 at the Jio World Centre, Mumbai — a full-day summit on brands and marketing where the 55 Industry MegaBrands and India's 100 Most Powerful Brands are announced.
Who publishes MegaBrands?
The Brand Intelligence Unit of the World Centre for Research and Consulting (WCRC), published as WCRC Intelligence. The official programme site is www.mostvaluablebrands.com.
Where can I get the full list as data?
The full cohort is free to download as JSON and CSV, and every MegaBrand has its own page in the 501.
