Recognition A–Z / Awards and recognition

Using an award badge accurately

A badge communicates a particular recognition. Its wording and accompanying context should allow a reader to identify the entity, category and edition it represents.

What to review

Confirm the authorised artwork and usage terms with the organiser. Keep the original claim legible and link to an appropriate record where one is available.

A practical example

A badge issued to a named business unit should not be placed beside an unrelated product as if the product was assessed. Context can change the claim a reader receives.

Keep the claim in scope

Do not invent licence terms. Accurate description and permission to use artwork are separate matters.

Research and editorial context

An award claim needs the programme name, assessed entity, category and edition. Read the recognition process with the result. WCRC separates research qualification from optional commercial participation; communications and attendance cannot create or alter a research outcome.

Examples illustrate a decision and do not describe a named organisation's conduct. This is a reference note, not a new research finding or an award outcome.
