Adaptive cruise and lane keeping are now common. Here is what they handle, and what they do not.
Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems are now offered on mainstream Indian SUVs priced under Rs 15 lakh, but the label covers a wide range of capability.\n\nAt a minimum, Level 2 combines adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, allowing the vehicle to manage speed and lane position on well-marked highways. It does not make the vehicle autonomous, and the driver remains responsible at all times.\n\nIndian conditions test these systems hard: faded lane markings, unlit obstacles and mixed traffic can cause false braking or disengagement.
