The Ferrari story

Ferrari's story starts with Enzo Ferrari, a racing driver and team manager for Alfa Romeo. He founded his own company in Modena in 1939, and the first car to carry the Ferrari name raced in 1947. The Prancing Horse emblem, which he adopted from the First World War pilot Francesco Baracca, became the symbol of an Italian obsession with speed and engineering. Road cars were built to fund the racing team, a principle that shaped the brand.

What makes Ferrari powerful

Ferrari's power rests on scarcity, racing and design. It builds a limited number of cars each year, often with waiting lists, and many models are sold out before production starts. Scuderia Ferrari, its Formula 1 team, gives the brand a global stage every race weekend. The red cars, the Maranello factory and the tifosi, Ferrari's passionate fans, create an emotional bond that extends far beyond the people who will ever own one.

Ferrari today

Ferrari N.V. is listed in Milan and New York, with the Agnelli family's holding company Exor as its largest shareholder. Production remains in Maranello. The company has built a lifestyle and licensing business around the brand while keeping tight control over how the Prancing Horse is used. Its electrification plan includes hybrids and its first fully electric car, a delicate move for a brand closely tied to the sound of its engines.

What comes next for Ferrari

Ferrari's next phase is about bringing electric performance into a brand defined by combustion, without losing its emotional pull. Its order books and pricing power give it room to manage that change at its own pace.
