Volvo Cars
Volvo Cars is a Swedish carmaker, founded in 1927 and based in Gothenburg, majority owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and selling in more than 100 countries. In 2025 it reported revenue of SEK357.3bn, retail deliveries of 710,000 cars, a 46% electrified share and an adjusted EBIT margin of 3.5%, while cutting CO2 per car by 31% against 2018. What WCRC found
Historic safety leadership, including opening its 1959 three-point seatbelt patent to the whole industry.
Strong global media presence around the EX60, the first model on its SPA3 platform.
Sound compliance and disclosure, meeting its CO2-per-car target with a 31% cut against 2018.
What holds it back: Financial health is the weakest area: S&P rates Volvo Cars BB+ with a negative outlook, and its adjusted EBIT margin was just 3.5% in 2025.
