What makes Hyatt powerful

Hyatt has built its brand on upscale hotels, careful service and guests who come back. Its portfolio now spans more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties in more than 80 countries, grouped into more than 30 brands across luxury, lifestyle, all-inclusive, classic and essential stays. Names such as Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt and Thompson give it a strong presence at the top end of travel.

Loyalty is the engine. The World of Hyatt program rewards frequent guests who favor upscale stays, and Hyatt has made it central to its pitch to hotel owners and investors. Its co-branded credit card with Chase adds to that pull, and the two companies expanded their partnership in late 2025. Growth is still coming as Hyatt signs new hotels and grows its luxury and lifestyle brands.

Why Hyatt ranks #85

Hyatt sits at #85 with a WCRC Power Score of 69.92, very close to Chipotle and Intel just above it. It scores well on consumer trust and on product quality in luxury travel, and its loyalty program gives it strong digital reach. It stays just ahead of Zoom and Chevrolet, just below, thanks to a fast-growing guest base. Its smaller size compared with the biggest hotel groups holds it back on recall across the five pillars.

The Achilles' heel

Hyatt's Achilles' heel is scale. Its World of Hyatt program is far smaller than Marriott Bonvoy, which had about 309 million members at the end of September 2026. Its bet on all-inclusive resorts also carries risk. In the third quarter of 2026, net package revenue per available room at its all-inclusive resorts fell 2.5%, mainly because of weaker demand in Cancun, where airlines cut flights, and in the Riviera Maya, where seaweed deterred visitors.

The 2026 story

Hyatt spent 2025 and 2026 reshaping itself into a lighter, fee-driven business. After buying all-inclusive operator Playa Hotels & Resorts in 2025, it sold Playa's owned resort real estate to Tortuga for $2 billion in December 2025. At its Investor Day on May 28, 2026, Hyatt gave an illustrative outlook of $1.40 billion to $1.585 billion in adjusted EBITDA for 2028, up from $1.025 billion in 2025. In the third quarter of 2026, US revenue per available room grew 8.2%, helped slightly by the FIFA World Cup.
