What makes ServiceNow powerful

ServiceNow is the software many large companies use to run IT, HR and customer service work on one platform. Once a company routes its daily requests through ServiceNow, it rarely leaves. Subscription revenue grew 21% in the third quarter of 2026.

AI is its new growth engine. ServiceNow now targets more than $1.7 billion of AI annual contract value in 2026, up from a $1 billion goal at the start of the year. In April 2026 it completed its purchase of Armis for about $7.75 billion. Armis tracks nearly 7 billion connected devices in real time and is trusted by nine of the Fortune 10. Together with Veza, the deal is expected to more than triple ServiceNow's addressable market in security and risk, a business that had already passed $1 billion in annual contract value.

Armis, which ServiceNow bought in April 2026, tracks nearly 7 billion connected devices in real time.

Why ServiceNow ranks #34

ServiceNow sits at #34 with a WCRC Power Score of 74.36, just behind Domino's Pizza and Universal and just ahead of AMD and ESPN. It scores highly on product and innovation and on digital and financial strength. Its weakness in this company is consumer recall, since few people outside large offices know the name. It edges AMD and ESPN on steady growth and deep, long-term customer relationships.

The Achilles' heel

ServiceNow's high expectations leave little room for a stumble. In April 2026 first-quarter subscription revenue took a hit that the company tied to the Iran war, and investors sent its shares down 14%. It also has to show that AI agents add to its revenue rather than replace the paid seats its customers buy, the same doubt that hangs over much of the software industry.

The 2026 story

ServiceNow kept buying and building in 2026. In March it bought Veza, an identity security firm. In April it completed the Armis acquisition, but first-quarter results disappointed investors. By Oct. 28 the picture had improved. Third-quarter results beat its guidance, subscription revenue grew 21%, and it raised its free cash flow margin target to 36%. It also launched a Control Tower Alliance with Anthropic, AWS, Cisco, Nvidia and OpenAI among its founding members.
