Lords Group Trading completed amendments to its existing banking covenants, it said on 6 November. The agreement was designed to meet its requirements through March 2029. The trading update released alongside it shows where management faces the immediate pressure. In the four months through 31 October, group like-for-like revenue fell 3.1%. Digital grew 11.8% and Merchanting edged up 0.5%, while Plumbing & Heating fell 11.1%. Lords Group trading update
Stock turns are one place to look. Buying too much before winter can tie up cash for months. Cutting orders across the board can leave trade customers waiting for parts on urgent repair jobs. The company reported growth in its spares and trade counter businesses even as the wider Plumbing & Heating division declined. It also said the APP wholesale business improved gross margins while prioritising margin over volume. Those differences argue for stock decisions at the product or branch level. Through the Financial Stewardship parameter in WCRC’s Leadership Equity framework, the test is how the board uses the time the revised covenants give it. A monthly review could put the cash tied up in slow inventory next to the availability of repair parts. Where the company consolidates distribution, the same review could check how much it saves against any deterioration in order fulfilment. WCRC Leadership Equity · WCRC on capital allocation
Lords expects the market recovery later in its 2027 financial year. The nearer test comes in winter, when branch teams can see whether they are freeing cash while still supplying the goods customers need. Lords Group trading update
