#17 Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola ranks #17 in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, with a WCRC Power Score of 80.24. Its strength is recognition: near-universal recall, a script logo and contour bottle known everywhere, and a bottling system that puts the drink within reach in more than 200 countries.
Five WCRC pillars, 50 parameters, each scored 0 to 100 against global sector peers. The pillar weights set how much each one counts toward the Power Score.

What makes Coca-Cola powerful
Coca-Cola is powerful because almost everyone on earth knows it. Brand Positioning & Recall, the pillar WCRC weights most heavily, scores 90.1, the brand's best result by a wide margin. Unaided Brand Recall and Visual Identity Distinctiveness both score 97. The Spencerian script, the shade of red and the contour bottle are recognised without a word of explanation, and the brand has told the same optimistic story about refreshment and shared moments for more than a century. Positioning Clarity & Coherence scores 95.
The second driver is physical presence. Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience scores 96, and Supply Chain Reliability & Availability 88, because a global network of bottling partners keeps the product cold and close at hand in more than 200 countries. Product, Innovation & Delivery scores 79.8 overall. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar shows the brand can still extend: its volume rose 16% in the second quarter of 2026, while total unit case volume grew 5%. The company is also one of the world's largest advertisers, and Brand Investment in Marketing scores 94, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup as its biggest stage.
Financial soundness adds 79.4. The Coca-Cola Company had revenue of US$47.9bn in 2025 and an operating margin of 28.7%, and Morningstar DBRS rates it A (high). The weak spot is Sustainability, Governance & ESG at 64.8. The company sells about three million tonnes of plastic packaging a year and softened its 2030 packaging goals in December 2024, which makes its green messaging harder to believe. Consumer Trust & Sentiment, at 79.8, remains solid.
Why Coca-Cola ranks #17
Coca-Cola's three strongest WCRC parameters all come from a brand that is seen, held and remembered everywhere: recall, visual identity and packaging.
1.02Unaided Brand Recall97
Unaided Brand Recall: Coca-Cola is sold in more than 200 countries and is one of the very few brands people name without prompting in almost every market.
1.10Visual Identity Distinctiveness97
Visual Identity Distinctiveness: the Spencerian script, Coca-Cola red and the contour bottle are recognised worldwide even without the name.
3.06Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience96
Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience: the contour bottle and red can set the standard for drinks packaging, and the brand's taste has been kept deliberately consistent for generations.
The Achilles' heel
4.02Sustainability Communication Authenticity50
Sustainability Communication Authenticity scores 50, Coca-Cola's lowest. The company sells about three million tonnes of plastic packaging a year, and in December 2024 it revised and softened its 2030 packaging goals, which leaves its environmental messaging open to challenge.
What would move it: Setting firm, dated targets for refillable and recycled packaging and reporting progress against them each year would make its sustainability claims easier to trust.
The 2026 story
2026 brought a change at the top. Henrique Braun, previously chief operating officer, succeeded James Quincey as chief executive on 31 March 2026, with Quincey becoming executive chairman. The handover had been announced in December 2025 and passed without disruption.
Trading was strong. In the second quarter of 2026 net revenue rose 7% to US$13.4bn, unit case volume grew 5% and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar volume rose 16%, and the company raised its full-year guidance. The FIFA World Cup gave the brand its biggest stage of the year, and the company reported that trademark Coca-Cola led brand share of voice during the tournament. In October 2026 the company was valued at about US$402bn.
The risks are familiar. Plastic waste remains the main reputational issue, health concerns about sugar keep pushing the portfolio toward low- and no-sugar drinks, and a long-running tax dispute with the US Internal Revenue Service is unresolved.

WCRC analysis
Net operating revenues rose 24% from US$38.7bn in 2021 to US$47.9bn in 2025, with growth slowing each year after a strong 2022. Operating income climbed steadily to US$11.3bn in 2023, dipped to US$10.0bn in 2024 when the margin fell to 21.2%, then jumped 38% to US$13.8bn in 2025, a 28.7% margin.
The pattern is a mature brand that grows mainly through price and mix, while reported margins swing from year to year. The 2025 rebound shows how much profit the brand can generate from steady volume, which supports its strong financial and marketing scores.
