#56 Marriott
Marriott is ranked #56 in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, with a WCRC Power Score of 75.50. The world's largest hotel company wins on loyalty and breadth: about 271 million Bonvoy members and a portfolio that runs from luxury resorts to outdoor cabins give it a trust score above Hilton's.
Five WCRC pillars, 50 parameters, each scored 0 to 100 against global sector peers. The pillar weights set how much each one counts toward the Power Score.

How the Power Score adds up
Each pillar's score multiplied by its WCRC weight. The segments sum to 75.50.
Marriott is powerful because of the loyalty programme that holds its empire together. Consumer Loyalty & Retention Proxy scores 88, the brand's joint-highest parameter in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026. Marriott Bonvoy has about 271 million members after adding 43 million in 2025, and members account for 68% of Marriott's global room nights. That is why Consumer Trust & Sentiment, at 76.0, ranks 34th of 100 and is the highest of any hotel brand in the ranking, ahead of Hilton.
The second driver is reach. With more than 9,000 properties and about 1.7 million rooms in 144 countries and territories, Marriott is the largest hotel company in the world. Product Portfolio Strength & Logic and Brand Extension Credibility both score 88: Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Sheraton, Westin, Courtyard and dozens more sit under one roof, and Marriott keeps adding to it, with citizenM bought for US$355m in 2025, an Outdoor Collection of Postcard Cabins and Trailborn launched that September, and a 2026 joint venture to bring Italian resort brand Lefay into Bonvoy. Its record pipeline of about 610,000 rooms shows owners still want the flags.
The finances are strong. Revenue reached US$26.19bn in 2025, up 4.3%, with operating income of US$4.14bn and net income of US$2.60bn, and Marriott returned US$4.0bn to shareholders. The cost of all that breadth is focus. Brand Positioning & Recall scores 77.0, 90th of 100, because the Marriott masterbrand is less distinctive than its best sub-brands. Sustainability, Governance & ESG, at 67.0, is weighed down by a missed cage-free egg pledge and the legacy of the 2018 Starwood data breach.
Why Marriott ranks #56
Marriott's three strongest WCRC parameters reflect the scale of its loyalty ecosystem and the breadth and credibility of its brand family.
2.06Consumer Loyalty & Retention Proxy88
Consumer Loyalty & Retention Proxy: Marriott Bonvoy has about 271 million members, up 43 million in 2025, and member stays make up 68% of global room nights.
3.05Product Portfolio Strength & Logic88
Product Portfolio Strength & Logic: more than 30 brands cover every tier from luxury to select-service, across more than 9,000 properties in 144 countries and territories.
1.09Brand Extension Credibility88
Brand Extension Credibility: Marriott has stretched convincingly into new formats, from citizenM, acquired for US$355m in 2025, to the Postcard Cabins and Trailborn Outdoor Collection.
The Achilles' heel
4.06Supply Chain Ethics & Responsible Sourcing60
Supply Chain Ethics & Responsible Sourcing scores 60, among Marriott's lowest parameters. Marriott missed its 2025 target to source only cage-free eggs, which has kept animal-welfare campaigners focused on the brand.
What would move it: A dated, audited plan to complete the cage-free transition, reported market by market, would remove the most visible gap in Marriott's sustainability record.
The 2026 story
Marriott kept widening its portfolio. It launched the Outdoor Collection in September 2025, with Postcard Cabins and Trailborn, after agreeing to buy citizenM for US$355m. In June 2026 it formed a joint venture to bring Italian luxury resort brand Lefay into Marriott Bonvoy, with full integration expected late in the year. It ended its partnership with Sonder in November 2025, citing Sonder's default.
The numbers were steady. Revenue rose 4.3% to US$26.19bn in 2025 and gross fee revenues grew 5% to US$5.44bn. RevPAR rose 2.0% and net rooms grew 4.3%, with the room pipeline at a record of about 610,000.
Old problems linger. The UK data regulator fined Marriott GBP18m over the 2018 Starwood breach, and review sentiment on open platforms is weak, with Online Reputation & Review Sentiment at 58. Debt of US$16.2bn, about three times EBITDA, is manageable but not small.
