#90 Corona
Corona is ranked #90 in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, with a WCRC Power Score of 73.95, and is the only Mexican brand in the top 100. A clear bottle, a wedge of lime and a promise of the beach have made it the growth engine of AB InBev's premium portfolio.
Five WCRC pillars, 50 parameters, each scored 0 to 100 against global sector peers. The pillar weights set how much each one counts toward the Power Score.

How the Power Score adds up
Each pillar's score multiplied by its WCRC weight. The segments sum to 73.95.
Corona sells a feeling more than a beer. Its 'Find your beach' positioning, relaxed and sunlit, has barely changed in decades, so Positioning Clarity & Coherence scores 88, its highest parameter, and Brand Personality Coherence 86. Brand Positioning & Recall is its strongest WCRC pillar at 81.6. Its 'O Tannenpalm' Christmas advert, a palm tree strung with lights, has aired every December since 1990 and is described as the longest-running beer ad.
The ritual is the brand. A clear glass bottle and a wedge of lime pushed into the neck make Corona recognisable across a crowded bar, which earns Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience and Visual Identity Distinctiveness 86 each. Few drinks have a serve that customers perform themselves. That identity travels: in 2025 Corona's revenue outside Mexico rose 8.3% with double-digit volume growth in 30 markets, and in the second quarter of 2026 revenue outside Mexico jumped 17%, with double-digit growth in 37 markets and mid-teens volume growth in Europe. Sentiment Trajectory scores 84 and Purchase Intent & Consideration Index 84. Corona has been the top-selling imported beer in the United States since 1998, and Corona Cero now leads growth in AB InBev's European no-alcohol range.
Its limits are digital and structural. Alcohol brands face age gates and tight marketing rules online, and Corona sells through retailers and bars rather than directly. Digital Presence & Financial Soundness is 69.6, the second lowest in the top 100, and Digital Innovation & Technology Adoption, at 56, is the lowest of any brand in the edition. Ownership is split too: AB InBev runs Corona worldwide, but Constellation Brands controls it in the United States.
Why Corona ranks #90
Corona's power comes from a positioning that has not wavered in decades, a serving ritual customers act out themselves, and a look recognisable in any bar in the world. Brand Positioning & Recall, at 81.6, is its strongest WCRC pillar.
1.01Positioning Clarity & Coherence88
Positioning Clarity & Coherence: 'Find your beach' ties every Corona advert, sponsorship and serve to one idea, relaxation. It is the brand's top score, at 88.
3.06Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience86
Packaging & Sensory Brand Experience: the clear bottle and the lime wedge make drinking a Corona a small ritual that customers perform themselves. It scores 86.
1.10Visual Identity Distinctiveness86
Visual Identity Distinctiveness: the clear bottle, crown label and lime are recognised at a glance across bars and beaches worldwide. It also scores 86.
The Achilles' heel
5.06Digital Innovation & Technology Adoption56
Digital Innovation & Technology Adoption scores 56, Corona's lowest and the lowest of any brand in the top 100. Age gates and strict alcohol marketing rules limit what it can do online, and it sells through retailers and bars, so it has little direct digital relationship with drinkers.
What would move it: Building responsible, age-verified digital experiences around its sponsorships and its beach and plastic-free programmes would give Corona a digital presence to match its physical one.
The 2026 story
Corona was the growth engine of AB InBev's premium portfolio. In 2025 its revenue outside Mexico rose 8.3%, with double-digit volume growth in 30 markets, while the parent's reported revenue slipped 0.8% to US$59.3bn. In the second quarter of 2026 Corona's revenue outside its home market rose 17%, with double-digit volume growth in 37 markets.
No-alcohol beer added a new chapter. Corona Cero led a low-teens volume increase in AB InBev's European no-alcohol portfolio in the second quarter of 2026, extending the brand to drinkers who want the ritual without the alcohol. Sponsorships of the ATP tennis tour and Mexico's national football team keep it visible.
The risks are structural. Constellation Brands controls Corona in the United States, its largest import market, so its global strategy is not fully unified. Parent AB InBev is still reducing debt, with net debt at 2.86 times EBITDA in June 2026, down from 3.27 a year earlier. Corona survived the unwanted association with the coronavirus in 2020; its name now stands again for the beach.
