#46 Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban is ranked #46 in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, with a WCRC Power Score of 76.30, the highest of any eyewear brand. Classic Wayfarer and Aviator designs, a lead in AI smart glasses and the financial strength of EssilorLuxottica drive its position.
Five WCRC pillars, 50 parameters, each scored 0 to 100 against global sector peers. The pillar weights set how much each one counts toward the Power Score.

How the Power Score adds up
Each pillar's score multiplied by its WCRC weight. The segments sum to 76.30.
Ray-Ban is powerful because it owns two things at once: the most recognisable shapes in sunglasses and the lead in a new category, AI glasses. The Wayfarer and Aviator have held the same authentic, slightly rebellious positioning for decades, and the red script logo is known worldwide. That heritage gives Ray-Ban a Brand Positioning & Recall score of 81.8, its strongest pillar, with 86 for both Positioning Clarity & Coherence and Visual Identity Distinctiveness.
The second driver is the future. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses turned a heritage brand into a technology story. EssilorLuxottica sold more than 7 million AI glasses across its brands in 2025, and revenue from the category almost doubled again in the second quarter of 2026. On 31 March 2026 the group added Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles designed for prescription wearers. WCRC scores Ray-Ban's Future Readiness & Strategic Relevance at 86, one of its three highest parameters, and Product, Innovation & Delivery at 78.3.
Then there is the parent. EssilorLuxottica, rated A2 by Moody's, reported revenue of €28.5 billion in 2025, up 11.2% at constant exchange rates, and record free cash flow of €2.8 billion. That gives Ray-Ban owned retail through Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters, global distribution and the funds to keep investing in smart eyewear. Financial Stability Indicator and Competitive Financial Position both score 86, and Digital Presence & Financial Soundness reaches 77.8. Consumer Trust & Sentiment, at 74.0, is held back by thin evidence on service and loyalty. Sustainability, Governance & ESG is the weakest pillar at 67.0, with competition scrutiny of the parent in Turkey in 2026.
Why Ray-Ban ranks #46
Ray-Ban's three highest WCRC parameters show a classic brand with a modern edge: it leads the shift to AI glasses, and it is backed by the financial strength of the world's largest eyewear group.
3.10Future Readiness & Strategic Relevance86
Future Readiness & Strategic Relevance: Ray-Ban Meta glasses put the brand at the front of AI wearables, and EssilorLuxottica sold more than 7 million AI glasses across its brands in 2025. It scores 86.
5.07Financial Stability Indicator86
Financial Stability Indicator: parent EssilorLuxottica is rated A2 by Moody's with a stable outlook and generated record free cash flow of €2.8 billion in 2025. It scores 86.
5.09Competitive Financial Position86
Competitive Financial Position: Ray-Ban sits inside the global eyewear leader, whose revenue reached €28.5 billion in 2025, growing 11.2% at constant exchange rates. It scores 86.
The Achilles' heel
4.08ESG Ratings & Regulatory Compliance64
ESG Ratings & Regulatory Compliance scores 64, among Ray-Ban's lowest. Turkey's competition authority opened an investigation into EssilorLuxottica in January 2026 over suspected de facto exclusivity in lenses and equipment, adding to the group's history of competition-law scrutiny.
What would move it: Resolving the Turkish case and publishing brand-level ESG and compliance reporting would lift this parameter and give Ray-Ban its own sustainability story.
The 2026 story
Ray-Ban's 2026 was defined by smart glasses. On 31 March EssilorLuxottica and Meta launched Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles for prescription wearers, which went on sale in April, and AI glasses revenue almost doubled year on year in the second quarter.
The parent kept growing. EssilorLuxottica reported first-half 2026 revenue of €14.8 billion, up 9.7% at constant exchange rates, with adjusted operating profit of €2.75 billion. In June it agreed with Applied Materials to develop optical systems for augmented-reality and smart eyewear.
The risks are competition and regulation. Smart glasses draw rivals from big technology firms, the adjusted margin is being tested by investment in the category, and Turkey's competition authority opened an investigation into EssilorLuxottica in January 2026.

WCRC analysis
EssilorLuxottica's revenue grew 44%, from €19.8bn in 2021 to €28.5bn in 2025, helped by the GrandVision acquisition and then by organic growth of 11.2% at constant exchange rates in 2025. Reported operating margin rose from 11.6% in 2021 to 12.9% in 2022 and held at 12.5% in 2023.
For Ray-Ban, the trend shows a parent that keeps getting bigger and more profitable, with scale in lenses, frames and retail. The 2025 jump in growth came as AI glasses took off, which links Ray-Ban's brand strength directly to the group's newest source of revenue.
