SAP is ranked #65 in the WCRC World's Most Powerful 100 Brands 2026, with a WCRC Power Score of 74.87. Europe's highest-ranked software brand, it draws its power from customer lock-in few companies can match: 98 of the world's 100 largest companies run SAP, and its balance sheet is rated A+.

How the Power Score adds up
Each pillar's score multiplied by its WCRC weight. The segments sum to 74.87.
SAP is a brand most consumers never see and most large companies cannot work without. Its software runs finance, supply chains and payroll at 98 of the world's 100 largest companies, and replacing it is slow, costly and risky. That is why Consumer Loyalty & Retention Proxy is SAP's highest WCRC parameter, at 90, and why First-Choice Consumer Preference reaches 86: for a large enterprise choosing a core business system, SAP is the default.
The second driver is financial strength. SAP is rated A1 by Moody's and A+ by S&P, giving it a Financial Stability Indicator of 88. Revenue rose 8% to EUR36.8bn in 2025, or 11% at constant currency, cloud revenue grew 23% to EUR21.0bn, and operating profit reached EUR9.83bn, a margin of 26.7%. SAP scores 78.0 on Digital Presence & Financial Soundness, its strongest pillar, and spends around 18% of revenue on research and development.
Third, SAP knows what it wants to be. Positioning Clarity & Coherence scores 88, built on a stated goal to be the leading enterprise application and Business AI company, backed by new cloud infrastructure and more than US$1bn committed by Sapphire Ventures-managed funds to AI start-ups. The cost of dominance shows in governance. The European Commission investigated SAP's on-premise maintenance and support practices from September 2025 until it accepted SAP's commitments in July 2026, and a bribery resolution of more than US$220m followed in 2024. Sustainability, Governance & ESG, at 67.2, is SAP's weakest pillar.

The Achilles' heel
4.09Circular Economy & Waste Reduction60
WCRC flags Circular Economy & Waste Reduction, at 60, as SAP's Achilles heel, because SAP published little evidence WCRC could assess on this measure. Its ESG pillar is also held back by a 2024 bribery resolution of more than US$220m and the 2025-26 EU antitrust probe.
What would move it: Reporting clearly on data-centre efficiency, hardware reuse and the waste savings its software delivers for customers would turn a blind spot into a strength.
The 2026 story
SAP's 2026 opened with strong results for 2025. Revenue rose 8% to EUR36.8bn, cloud revenue grew 23% to EUR21.0bn, and profit after tax reached EUR7.49bn, as the company pushed customers toward the cloud and its Business AI tools.
The year's biggest regulatory step came in July, when the European Commission broadly accepted SAP's commitments on on-premise maintenance and support, closing the investigation it opened in September 2025. Funds managed by Sapphire Ventures committed more than US$1bn to AI-powered enterprise start-ups, and SAP launched its own cloud infrastructure service.
The risk is that customers who feel locked in begin to resent it. Implementation complexity and support terms are SAP's most common sources of friction, and Service Recovery & Complaint Perception is one of its lowest WCRC parameters.
